Track the success of BRAZIL PAVILION at BIO2009 International Convention, Atlanta/Georgia, USA.
The Brazilian Pavilion at BIO2009 International Convention was a huge success. The event, considered the most important biobusiness meeting in the world, was held on May 18 to 21st in Atlanta, USA with more than 14.000 participants from 48 different countries. The pavilion was organized by Fundação Biominas and APEX Brasil.
20 Brazilian life sciences companies, presented at the pavilion, had the opportunity to show their products and services and discuss business opportunities. Also, an important public official delegation attended the event, including governmental and fostering institutions’ relevant members related to science and technology. In total, Brazil had more than 100 people at BIO 2009.
The pavilion and delegation confirms the Brazilian commitment to develop the life sciences industry, in compliance with the Productive Development Policy in Biotechnology launched by the Brazilian Federal Government for the biennium from 2009 to 2010.
The Brazil Pavilion had its number of exhibitors doubled in comparison with the previous year. Fundação Biominas has already booked a place even bigger for 2010 and estimates the participation of 30 companies and an increasing attendance of the Brazilian delegation.
Fundação Biominas is a company dedicated to create and develop life science companies in Brazil since 1990. We also establish relationships with public and private institutions, to promote and develop the sector, offering specialized services to companies – in their various stages of development –, investors and academics, providing differentiated infrastructure, forming partnerships with government agencies in life science projects, and support international companies wishing to establish business and partnerships in Brazil.
During Bio 2009, we promoted the Brazil Session, with the theme "Recent Developments and Partnering Opportunities in Agricultural Biotechnology in Brazil", in which the Secretary for Policy and R&D Programs of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr. Luiz Antonio Barreto de Castro (mediator) and a well-known researcher of EMBRAPA, Dr. Dario Grattapaglia (speaker) described the progress achieved by Brazil in the agricultural biotechnology area, promoting the institutions involved in the development of this area in the country and featuring partnerships with institutions and companies from over the world.
Another Pavilhão Brasil’s novelty this year was the distribution of a promotional material (CD) featuring the Life Science Companies in Brazil and containing a Directory of Life Science Companies. This material is also available for download.
